Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life
Beck Isle museum of rural life currently houses agricultural artifacts from the past 200 years. It is one of the regions top tourist attractions.
A selection of photographs from the extensive Sidney Smith collection are also held in the museum and are displayed around the building. Sidney Smith was born in Pickering and his work is appreciated world wide. He is thought of as a successor to Frank Meadow Sutcliffe of Whitby.
The museum is housed in a Regency residence close to the centre of Pickering. Here, England's first Agricultural Institute was planned in the early 1800s by William Marshall.
The museum is owned by the Beck Isle Museum Trust and is staffed and operated completely by volunteers.
